[ He dreams vivid and angry. He dreams like a thunderstorm, restless like rain and broken with sharp spasms of a mind trying, trying to wake up. He dreams of Ruin.

When he starts to wake up, pulling himself up, he, for a moment between awake and asleep, doesn't know if this is real. ]

[ Zane has energy.

Perhaps it's being asleep for so long; perhaps it's some other sort of restlessness. But he doesn't want to stop moving.

Watch out in the hallway; instead of walking past you like a normal person, he may step off the wall, push off from the ceiling, flip, and land on the far side of you. He could also be jumping around on top of the greenhouse like a crazy person. Or balancing on the rail like a crazy bird. He may also be in CES, in a place blasted with dry, hot winds. ]

[There's a moment where she has the impulse to say something. Something mildly cutting and vaguely witty. That's when she opens connection, and then she thinks better of it.

And hangs up without saying anything.]

[ Yeah, he's not going to conclude this conversation over the network. He has always valued face-to-face interaction higher, and she deserves more.

So he's going to seek her out. ]

[He'll find her in her room. She doesn't much leave anymore, except for walking and feeding Lirath, and occasionally to do and say terrible things to Arthas. Things that cut her as much as they cut him. Probably more so.

If he knocks she won't answer. The leopard will though. He's learned how to both unlock the bolt on the inside of the door, and pull the door open. He's bigger now, almost not a kitten at all anymore. But his friendly demeanor is still the same. As long as he's not ordered not to, he'll bump his whole self against anyone's leg that doesn't smell hostile. Zane is included in this.]

Sylvanas.

[ He calls her name before he enters, crouching to greet the leopard. He is unafraid, even of wild and fierce animals, and he strokes him, strong without hostility. ]

I'm sorry I wasn't here.

[Lirath knows Zane well enough, and a lot of the time smells like the Emperor, who smells like his best friend Melchior, so by extension, Zane is also his best friend. At least someone is happy to see him right?

Many times Sylvanas has missed her old accommodations, before Mark had taken it upon himself to give her the room from her family home. An empty, dark room with nothing but a stone throne was far more fitting for her. Especially lately. As it is, she's reduced to sitting on her bed a great deal, which doesn't quite have the intimidating factor to it. More like a sulking factor.

Even in her room, she still wears her armor, like a shield against the weight of her own existence. Or something equally as melodramatic. The only concession is her hood is down, and her face isn't hidden in shadows. She doesn't look at him, just stares at her faux stained-glass window.]

Here for what?

[Because there's been a few things that has happened.]

[ He slips into the room, graceful again instead of miserable. Sleeping for so long has perhaps given him the edge of distance he needed to be able to breathe. ]

With you.

I've survived.

[Her head shifts so the red eyes are looking at him. She's so very stone faced. The last time he'd seen her she'd been weeping and weak, but now she gives him nothing. Which may be just as telling.]

I'm not the one who needed you.

Yes, you are.

But he was there when I woke up.

[ He moves to crouch in front of her. Lower than her. ]

Were you there for him? If you were, I owe you gratitude.

[If he thinks he can earn her good humor by lowering himself before her, he's wrong. She sees it as a ploy, and that makes her neutral demeanor sour.]

You owe me nothing. His warm flesh and beating heart are offensive to me. The way every last one of the living on this ship are.

Because you wish everyone suffered like you?

Because it's part of what I am!

[She lurches forward as she snaps this at him, not to get feet, but leaning far over to glare at him up closer.]

Don't presume to guess at my motivations. You haven't the slightest understanding of what it is to be undead. The urges that are part and parcel. In this moment do you even realize what part of my mind sees you as?

Prey?

[ He doesn't flinch. It's not that he believes he shouldn't be afraid of her. It's that he's decided to trust her and face the consequences of that trust, no matter what they are. ]

It's part, but it's not all. You are more than this. And he's too important to you - I don't believe you'll just let him go.

Prey in the way cattle are prey.

[Easy. Trusting. Foolish. The Emperor was all that and worse. ]

But yes, I am more. I have a mind of my own, and I have let him go. You don't ask a wolf to tend sheep.

I would ask you.

I've learned here that I can show loyalty I never thought I had in myself. You carried our child. You're, in some way I don't understand, part his. And you have it, from me.

Maybe that means I'm the wrong warden for you. I'm finding it hard to care.

[Her lips curl back from her teeth, something between a cringe and snarl. It's like her face can't quite decide.]

If I have your loyalty, then honor my wishes. Graduate him, and leave with him.

[She sits back again. And yes, it most certainly looks like a sulking posture when it's done on a bed.]

And keep him away from me.

I'm not his keeper.

[ He's not going to get in the middle of this one.

He moves to his feet, but doesn't leave. ]

Is there anything I can do for you?

[She wants to snarl at him. To tell him she'd just asked him to do something for her. ~~(She ordered him, but semantics.)~~ But it seems pointless. He thinks he's helping. Everyone always thinks they're helping when they stop all over the small shards of her heart that still remain.]

I keep telling you there isn't, yet you still come around anyway.

[ He relents, a little. ]

I'll talk to him. But you help him, and I'm worried - the Barge is doing something to him.

[Damn him. Damn him for saying that to her. One hand clenches into a fist in an effort to keep her temper.]

It's doing something to several people. And we've been having signs thrown at us that say we're going back there.

[She says it like he should know what it means, because he should. Mirror Barge was rough on everyone, save a small few, and the effects were still rippling. Hell, she hasn't been able to shake off Dean Winchester since.]

There's a pattern to the afflicted that should be fairly obvious by now, considering that fact.

Going back where?

[ His stomach drops, a pit of dread. ]

Not Silent Hill. [ Please, please tell him that it isn't Silent Hill. ]
