[ Kelsier brought him a rabbit.

A strange-looking rabbit with fur around its face. And then Kelsier left.

Zane stares at the rabbit.

It stares back.

He picks up his communicator, finally, breaking a long silence. He doesn't want to go through the process of apologizing to people. He wants them to be apologized to, but he can't... he doesn't know how to begin.

So: ]

What do you do with a rabbit

[ deck spam ]

[ ...and now he is hunting. On deck. For the hidden rabbit supplies. Damn it Kelsier. ]

Maybe? It looks like it's yours. Why are you up here with it?

[He'd come closer but he still has the end of cigarette to finish. Most people don't like the smoke.]

[ Zane is burning tin right now, and so the acrid smell does make him flinch. He tolerates it, though. ]

Someone gave her to me. [ The tone indicates the gift was unwelcome. ]

Huh. Do you know what you're doing? With the bunny?

[He finishes off the smoke and snuffs it out on a railing.]

No.

Kelsier gave me a book.

[He looks skeptical.] What are you doing up here with him anyway?

He hid things on deck.

Wait, wait... The bunny hid things on deck?

Kelsier did.

The bunny is a she.

He wanted to be annoying.

Okay. Wait. Let me get this straight. He gave you a bunny and sent you on a scavenger hunt?

That's the sort of thing he does.

[ Welcome to Kelsier, Arkin. ]

So you brought the bunny with you. How much do you have left to find, do you know?

...no.

I found food and water. And ... treats. And pellets, which are also food. [ Apparently. ]

Well, I haven't seen anything up here but I guess he hid the stuff pretty good. You got bedding for her yet? Wood chips or newspaper or something?

You don't want to use cloth or anything like that, it'll make her sick.

I thought I might just leave her on the straw overnight.

That should work. They like to curl up when they sleep, at least until they get real comfortable around you.

You're keeping her?

Everyone seems to think I should.

[ and maybe he wants to. Maybe. ]

You're not sure?

No one's given me time to think about it.

We can find what you need to get through a couple days. That enough time to think about it?

[ He looks down at the rabbit. ]

...yes.

Okay. I can take her if you don't want to keep her later on.

What kind of set up do you have for her?

My room is... open. It's mostly stone, not wood. There's room.

[ He sits down on the edge of a bench, letting the rabbit settle onto his lap. ]

That should be plenty. Give her a spot in a corner or under something. She'll feel more secure her first night.

[he crouches down to look at the bunny.]

They sometimes dig borrows out in the wild. They like having a private spot.

[pause]

Any chance she's pregnant, do you know?

[ He'd given her a little bit of fresh straw to munch on, since it seemed to be her favorite, and she's more or less done with that now. Other than that, she returns Arkin's gaze with one of her own, equally, it seems, assessing. ]

...no, I don't.

[ shit she could be pregnant ]

I did lean two pillows together... like a tent. She liked that. She doesn't like the hutch.

There's a reason people say 'multiplying like rabbits.' If she is, you'll know soon enough.

[He smiles a bit.]

She's smart, then. I wouldn't want to live in a cage either.
