I just - it hurt. And I know it might feel better for a second making him hurt too, but it won't last. I'd rather be doing something I give a shit about than wasting any more time on him.

He said things to me that - I know what he was trying to do, I know what he's trying to do to Chris and you and everyone, he wants to make us crawl. Admit that we're no better than he is. He knew people would try to hurt him. He wants that too.

But he's dirt compared to us. No point killing dirt.

[ His tone is genuinely contrite. He can see that it would be better for Cassel for Zane to ignore this, to shrug it off, move on. But Zane is stuck. He's not sure how. ]

[Interesting. It sounds like the opposite of leaving stasis, the rush of resuming time right now to the molecular level exhilarating even for one of the Risen. Time had still pressed on Zane, his body simply shut down, indifferent to it but not insensible.]

It should pass. No one we spoke to reported any particular lingering effects.
